Bird flu - the main danger appears to be either mass hysteria or death by overcrowding of media reporters in small town in Fife.

Bird flu - and yes, even the H5N1 'killer' virus, - has been here before. Bird flu is endemic in wildfowl. Wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't been lurking in certain birds for years. It doesn't kill all varieties. Swans are particularly sensitive.

You won't catch it unless you snuggle a sick bird or breathe in infected bird faeces. Properly cooked poultry is safe.

All the fuss is driving me crazy. I'm dealing with calls from all sorts of people asking about it.

I kept eating beef during the whole mad cow thing too.

well that explains a lot...! :duck::wink:

Media and populace alike seem to relish a bit of a health scare. I mean how many of us get that close to birds? They were saying on the radio this morning that even if meat is n't properly cooked, the virus cannot survive our digestive juices - the receptors are in the respiratory system....and if anyone actually wants to snort raw chicken innards up their nose, they probably deserve bird flu!
