i *SEE* you

that is interesting, about the slugs and the banana peel. Keep me updated  Much fewer slugs in the garden due to the scorching hot and very dry summer last year, but I still have some. I go out at dusk and collect them from the new deck where they are rather nicely visible due to it being still so light in colour … but it's only one or two every few days.

Some of the Beatles stuff is my childhood in a nutshell. One of my brothers was (and still is) a fan and I heard that music through the wall between our rooms all the time, so I have not really an unbiased approach.

:crossed: that the banana peels work.

By the way, i got to see the Beatles at the Cow Palace in San Francisco during their first American tour, courtesy of my friend's indulgent parents.  She was the biggest fan imaginable, and her parents got tickets for her and several of her friends, including me.  i say SEE, not hear, since the minute the guys came onstage, there was so much high pitched shrieking that nothing was really audible.  They were cute, though.

i went through a period of liking the Stones a lot.  THEN Rudolf Nureyev defected from the Kirov Ballet.  As my father put it when Rudi appeared on the Ed Sullivan show wearing transparent tights over flesh colored ones, making it look like a LOT was showing, "That God damned guy is WORSE than Mick Jagger."  :manic:  It was the year that the SFPD arrested Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn (wearing a white mink) in the Haight Ashbury at some pot party.

  and awww :p

erm, the banana peels... the heat dehydrated them and as I was plucking damaged buds and flowers to make way for healthy ones, I picked a slug as well :crit:

so peels  don't work  :dunno:

The Beatles are my jam, for ever! Favorite song....Hey Jude! lol  We are up to our feet in veggies, I love it, our garden did better than we expected. :tomato:  :carrot::snail::dinner:ete.

I had a try at Twitter a day a go. It told me I had the wrong name and then some other nonsense.  Screw them! I can barely get through Facebook stuff. Oh, good news, Kate and Alex are moving closer to Salem, in next month. Did I already mention that? Any way, not much new here. :omm:

So a neighbour drops by, hands us four big zucchini, saying if we weren't home he would have given us more :silly2:

how does zucchini cake go? is it sweet or savoury?

 :oh: inquiring minds …

we are having amazing roses this year - every puny little plant has wonderful blooms :swoon:

No big loss for you if you're not on Twatter, Jude. It's a stupid format, that's why the Twatter in Chief loves it so much.

It is great that Kate and Alex move closer.

We are spending time at my brother's house again, this time Migi is here, too, at least for a few days.

Actually my brother and sil left yesterday - he drove her to Hamburg where she was supposed to have hip surgery yesterday. In the afternoon she called saying she was coming home in a taxi  Turns out she has been having double vision in the morning for the past week, and she she told that to the anestesiologist they said she had to have a neurological examination first and sent her home …

She had planned for the days in the hospital and afterwards two weeks of rehab, and suddenly she was sent home, with no means to get there as my brother had gone on to the coast, where they were supposed to meet with all their kids and grandkids in a hotel on an island. Hence the taxi … Now she has an appontment in a clinic, but that is wednesday next week. We'll see how things develop.

oh no, such a change of plans   :crossed:  for sil and family :yes2:

sweet cake, putting shredded/grated zucchini in helps keep the cake moist without adding flavour - and uses up some zucchini :p   (like grated raw carrot for carrot cake)

often used with chocolate so that there is some flavour :db:

the pineapple and walnut cover that, on account of i didn't have choc. :choc: on hand

Exactly - and  that the hospitals seem to all be the same in terms of sending people home with no way to get there

That is a shame about Sil's delayed surgery. I hope things go better for her soon. So frustrating for her. We have an plethora of damn zucchinis but happily Ben and the boys love it. I like the tomatoes most, we have several kinds. The tiny golden ones are awesome but the odd purple ones are just sitting there. And sitting. Our weather here is quite temperate    at the moment, Mid 70's and a bit of 80's. However people keep saying, Oh! It's so humid! Take some clothes off! :omm::lazy:
