(would totally prefer the real thing )
if you have a man cutout, can be turned upside down to make a face with antlers
Molasses Dough for Rolling
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup brown or demerara sugar
Cream butter and sugar, and add 1 well beaten egg.
Add 2/3 cup molasses, mix well then stir in 3 cups flour sifted with 3 tsp. baking powder (or use self-raising?), 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. gr. ginger.
If sticky, chill until easier to manage. Roll out 1/4-inch thick, cut into shapes. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
Sugar Cookie Dough
1/2 cup butter, softened.
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup milk with 1/2 tsp. vanilla stirred in.
2 cups flour sifted with 3 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, then add flour in several amounts alternating with milk mixture, stirring until dough can be gathered into a ball. Roll thin and cut into shapes. Bake at 350 deg. for 10 minutes for pale cookies, a few minutes more for toasty-looking edges.
